I am excited for the opportunity to serve as the fifth grade teacher at St. Matthew’s! I have been a teacher for almost 9 years, and this will be my first teaching experience in the Midwest!
I grew up in Wisconsin, attending St. Jacobi Lutheran grade school and Wisconsin Lutheran High School. I took a rather roundabout way into the ministry, though. I began my college career at the University of WI Green Bay, where I studied theatre for two years. I went on to become a flight attendant for the no-longer-existent Midwest Airlines. After that, I moved to Maryland to serve as a live-in nanny for five young children. It was there that God led me to the decision to return home and start my path to teaching.
I attended MLC from 2008-2010 and graduated in December, receiving my first call mid-year to Friendswood, Texas. I served as 2-4th grade teacher for 3 ½ years before accepting a call to teach 2nd grade in Palm Coast, Florida. I was blessed to be the 2nd grade teacher for 4 years, moving to 5th grade my final year there.
I can’t wait to get to know the students and staff of St. Matthew’s as I continue to explore my new city of Oconomowoc. I have a deeply rooted love of coffee, along with travel, volleyball, reading, and attempting to run. While I may miss the ocean, these beautiful lakes and parks offer many great reasons to get outside and enjoy God’s creation.
