Amy Vannieuwenhoven, Fifth Grade
It is such a privilege to share God’s Word and world with the 5th graders of St. Matthew’s Lutheran School and to serve the families of the Oconomowoc area!
I graduated from Martin Luther College with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1999. I married my husband, Pastor Charlie Vannieuwenhoven, that same year in August. I served as adjunct faculty for my first call, teaching Communications and helping in the English department at Martin Luther College. I spent the next year teaching 5th grade at St. Paul’s, New Ulm. At the end of that school year, we were blessed with our first child, Tabitha. I spent those next five years at home with Tabitha, Elyse, and Micah. Soon after Micah’s birth in 2006, we moved to serve in Tampa, FL for the next 14 years.
We loved our time serving in the mission field of Tampa. I spent 7 years as an aide/substitute for our growing Christian day school. In 2008 we added our fourth child, Lily. I spent from 2013-2020 teaching at Northdale Lutheran School. I taught 5- 6th homeroom with some various departmentalization in Math and Word of God. It was a wonderful and beloved mission opportunity for us. In May of 2020, my husband accepted a call to become Dean of Students at Luther Preparatory School, and we moved to the Watertown, WI area during that summer.
Favorite Bible Passage – II Corinthians 4:14,15
“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”
