Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society

LUTHERAN WOMEN’S MISSIONARY SOCIETY (LWMS) is a group of women dedicated to serving Jesus by increasing awareness, interest, and support of WELS missions.

Responsibilities:Educate women and our congregation in a variety of ways to increase knowledge and awareness of home and world missions and missionaries. Encourage women to support the work of missionaries through prayers, notes, and offerings.

All St. Matthew’s women will collectively maintain membership in the Rock River Circuit (RCC) and national LWMS. Offerings are collected twice a year and sent in advance of the Circuit Rallies. Our church is assigned one world and two home missionaries every two years. We support and pray for the three missionaries and their families in light of their needs and our abilities. This program is called Befriend a Mission (BAM).The RRC is led by circuit officers. Women from St. Matthew’s are welcome to serve as an officer. Three LWMS events take place each year:

  • Spring Circuit Rally with our local circuit.
  • National Convention the last full weekend in June and hosted in the US.
  • Fall Circuit Rally with our local circuit

SHINE will advertise these events.  All women are invited to attend.  This is a great opportunity to get daughters involved, too.
