Eric Ziel, Eighth Grade
Hello! My name is Eric Ziel, and I serve as the 8th grade teacher here at St. Matthew’s, the congregation I have served for 38 years! In addition to classroom duties, I assist with coaching duties.
I am married to Beth (Schneider) Ziel, who also teaches at St. Matthew’s (Kindergarten). We have three children: Megan, Jacob, and Anna. Megan (now Gurgel) and her children Warren (3) and Whitney (1) are moving to the Twin Cities area where husband Steve has accepted a call to teach at West Lutheran High School in Plymouth. Jacob will also be in a new location starting this year. After serving for three years at Doral Christian Academy in Florida, he accepted a call to teach and coach baseball at Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills, WI. Anna, our youngest, is recently married (Aaron Swanson) and teaches English and coaches volleyball at Great Plains Lutheran High School in Watertown, SD.
When I’m not working on school-related projects, I enjoy following Wisconsin sports teams and also find time to run outside on many of the beautiful hiking and running trails in southeastern Wisconsin.
Favorite Bible Passage – Galatians 2:20
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
