Eric Ziel, Eighth Grade/Principal
Hello! My name is Eric Ziel, and I serve as the 8th grade teacher and Principal here at St. Matthew’s, the congregation I have served for 35 years! In addition to classroom and administrative duties, I coach the school’s cross country team in the fall and girls’ softball team in the spring.
I am married to Beth (Schneider) Ziel, who also teaches at St. Matthew’s (Kindergarten). We have three children: Megan, Jacob, and Anna. Megan is married and lives in Rapid City, SD. Jacob is completing his third and final year of teaching at Nebraska Lutheran High School in Waco, NE, and will be moving to Florida where he will begin serving at Doral Christian Academy. Anna is a year away from completing her training for the teaching ministry at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN.
It’s true, I guess, that you’re never too old to try something new. I’ve taken the plunge into a Master’s program and am on track to receive that degrees at the time my daughter Anna graduates from MLC. When I’m not working on those online Master’s courses, I enjoy following Wisconsin sports teams and also find time to run outside on many of the beautiful hiking and running trails in southeastern Wisconsin.
Favorite Bible Passage – Galatians 2:20
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
