STEM: Project Lead the Way

Project Lead The Way (PLTW) provides transformative learning experiences for K-8 students at St. Matthew’s. PLTW creates an engaging, hands-on classroom environment that empowers students to develop key knowledge and skills they need to succeed in today’s world.

In Grades K-5, PLTW Launch taps into young students’ exploratory nature, engaging them in learning that feels like play, which encourages them to keep discovering – now and for years to come!

There are 24 different modules in PLTW Launch that empower students to adopt a design-thinking mindset through compelling activities, projects, and problems that build upon each other and relate to the world around them. And as students engage in hands-on activities in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science, they become creative, collaborative problem solvers ready to take on any challenge. The students love PLTW!

The middle school grades (6-8) are a time of exploration, when students are figuring out what they’re passionate about today and how that relates to who they’ll become tomorrow.

During this important, transitional time, the 10 hands-on units in PLTW Gateway boost classroom engagement and excitement, drive collaboration, and inspire “aha! moments” that lead to deep comprehension. As students engage in PLTW’s activities in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science, they see a range of paths and possibilities they can look forward to in high school and beyond.
